To produce a cover of a track, to respect the artist one covers while showcasing one’s talents, all without ruining the attributes which inspired the cover to begin, and then to put it out there to a world who already heard and enjoyed the original, is seldom easy. It’s nerve-racking. My Silent Bravery takes up this task in their cover of Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza.” They succeed with hearty vocals and immense energy to out-do and out-entertain the bland original and trite SEED remix of “I Took A Pill In Ibiza.” Where Posner’s original is a dull recounting of a drug-filled night and ostentatious habits over a guitar instrumental, My Silent Bravery ’s cover is a lively version of that experience with spirited vocals and an upbeat instrumental — as seems fitting for the lyrical content.

And where the SEED remix cannot persuade the listener to move, the listener finds themselves bopping to My Silent Bravery’s cover. Last, the production of this cover stresses equalization; there is no moment where the instrumental or vocals overpower each other. Nevertheless, for all the righteousness and energy given by My Silent Bravery , they could have chosen a better track to exhibit their talents over Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza."
