The listener, at some point, while enjoying "Churchill Down" by Jack Harlow Ft. Drake, will pause the song — it may be during Jack Harlow's verse, maybe during Drake's, even perhaps the beat may stop the listener, or if the listener is patient, they'll wait to the end. Regardless of when it will happen, the listener will pause and then replay "Churchill Down." This isn't a guess but a fact. As many say, "Numbers don't lie." The official music video alone received close to sixteen million views in sixteen hours. But there's a reason for this buzz around "Churchill Down."

One may argue that when the track was leaked a few months ago, it engendered the hype needed for Jack Harlow's latest album, "Come Home the Kids Miss You." This may be true if you squint your eyes and want to wrack your brain on marketing ploys; however, the leak does not alter the fact that "Churchill Down" is not a played-out track upon the album and video's release. Well, why? In simple terms, the track is excellent; it is pure hip hop, but the only way these two artists can do it. But most impressive is the pace of "Churchill Down."

In an age where rappers want to take on Em's Godzilla challenge and where fast and unorthodox flows are encouraged, Jack Harlow and Drake take their approach back to when slow, methodical lyrics are at the forefront. Every word, line, and pun is like a Tyson one-two punch, with the instrumental being the knockout blow. The instrumental is airy, allowing the artists to own the track, but also, it is alive, making the listener want to dance like Jack Harlow's mom in the video. The beat is not obtrusive, only allowing the artist to shine without becoming stale or dull over time. Over the years, Jack Harlow has risen to stardom, and here, in "Churchill Down," he shows the listeners why. "You know that boy Jack is goin' places," Drake ends his verse. And this is beyond the truth. Watch out! Jack Harlow is here! And he's making timeless tracks.
