Artist Interview: Arcadian Sound Bass Music [2022]

Let's Meet Arcadian Sound! [2022]

Music is a powerful medium. Not only does it help foster memory, but it motivates some to work hard every day and inspires others to be musicians. Arcadia Sound, Jacob Robbins from Grand Rapids, MI., is heavily inspired by the “bass music producers” and shows he attended “his entire life.” For three years, he’s worked hard on Arcadian Sound, starting the journey with his first mixtape, “Mad Honey.” Please take a moment to learn more about Jake and his Arcadian Sound. A great and sedulous musician, Jake’s music will move you. You might dance or start making your sounds.

Enjoy our short interview with Arcadian Sound, and take a gander at our Music Single Review for his track, “Grain Plunge,” and plug into First Effect Music Podcast Episode 6, where we do a deep dive on “Grain Plunge” & Arcadian Sound.

1. When did you start creating music?

I started creating music on January 1st, 2020. I have no musical experience before this other than mixing music occasionally on VirtualDJ.

2. What made you want to become a musician?

I have been attending multiple concerts since 2013 and falling in love with the feeling of bass shaking my entire body. I want to create that experience for other people.

3. Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I love to play video games! Videogames inspire me on the regular. I am currently playing Grounded on the Xbox One.

4. What was your first song/album created?

My first album was called Arcadia, and it aimed to be a collection of tracks that defined my tastes in electronic music. It’s a blend of beautiful, trappy, nasty, and energetic. I made a remastered/reworked version of the album as well!

5. Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years? 10 years?

5 years? Headlining. 10 years? I will probably have kids by then (I’m married), but hopefully headlining more.

6. What new projects are you working on? Are any new tracks or albums in the pipeline? Tell us about how it started and why you’re passionate about it.

I am working on a ton of music at all times. I have a mix coming out on the 19th that will have plenty of unreleased tracks (it was supposed to come out on the 12th, but my contact switched it to the 19th for some reason?). I am also developing a sequel to my Gameboy LP titled Gameboy Advance!

7. What’s your process for dealing with performance anxiety?

The last time I had performance anxiety, I chugged a beer, which seemed to help. I was freaking out before opening for Shlump but chugged the beer and ended up talking to the guy before playing, and he helped me figure out the CDJ’s.

8. If you could pick one of your songs to introduce yourself, which would it be?

Grain Plunge - I just love this track, and I think it showcases my unique style well!
